American Birding Expo Wrap-up

Last weekend the ABA Lounge was open for visitors at the American Birding Expo in Columbus Ohio. Hats off to Expo organizers Bill Thompson III and Wendy Clark, as well as the whole Birdwatcher’s Digest team, for a wonderful event. The expo featured tour companies and guides from virtually every part of the globe, optics and gear manufacturers and retailers, artists, publishers, and birding organizations. Watch for this event next year, and be sure to fit it into your plans. There is something for every level of birder and photographer.

If you haven’t yet visited us, the ABA has a comfortable spot at several birding festivals throughout the year. The ABA Lounge is usually “the place to be”, where people hang out and chat, sip Song Bird Coffee … and you can join (or renew), and check out ABA logo gear. We’ll be at the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival in Harlingen, Texas, November 2 – 6, 2016; and at the Space Coast Birding Festival in Titusville, Florida, January 25 – 30, 2017.

Here are a few snapshots from last week in Columbus:

Greg Neise

Web Development at American Birding Association
Greg Neise developed his interests in birds, photography and conservation as a youngster growing up in Chicago, across the street from Lincoln Park Zoo. At the age of 13, he worked alongside Dr. William S. Beecher, then Director of the Chicago Academy of Sciences and a pioneering ornithologist, and learned to photograph wildlife, an interest that developed into a career supplying images for magazines, newspapers, institutions and books, including National Geographic (print, web and television), Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Boston Globe, Nature, Lincoln Park Zoo, Miami Zoo, Jacksonville Zoo, The Field Museum and a host of others. He has served as President of the Rainforest Conservation Fund, a volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the world's tropical rainforests. Greg is a web developer for the ABA, and of course, a fanatical birder.
