Changing the Face of Birding: Focus on Diversity II

CFABLogoCrop-259x328The American Birding Association is pround to once again sponsor the Focus on Diversity: Changing the Face of American Birding conference to be held this weekend in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Well, technically Minnesota Valley NWR in Bloomington, but close enough.

The conference is the brainchild of New Jersey birder and ABA member Dave Magpiong, who guest posted on the ideals behind this gathering in advance of the inaugural conference last year.

That meeting, held in Philadelphia, was by all accounts a great success, as people interested in the future of birding discussed ways in which we could together seek to diversify our community. ABA President Jeff Gordon attended the event and came away inspired and motivated.

This year’s speakers include Paul Baicich, Kenn Kaufman, Dudley Edmondson, J. Drew Lanham, Laura Erickson, and many others.

For those not able to make the conference, you need not miss it!  Like last year, the entire meeting will be streamed online, and you can find the live stream here. Coverage is slated to start at 8:30 AM Central Time, Saturday, October 13.

If you can’t be in Minneapolis, watch and listen from right where you are.
