#ABArare – Red-footed Booby – Florida

Roberto Torres took fellow birders Rangel Diaz, Josh Friers, and Larry Manfredi out on his boat on November 1 to explore the offshore waters of Miami-Dade County. At the Pacific Reef Lighthouse, among a group of 42 Brown Boobies, Manfredi picked out an immature Red-footed Booby (Code 4).

For those considering looking for this bird, you will need a boat (or a very powerful scope and an equally powerful imagination). Pacific Reef Lighthouse is about three miles southeast of Elliott Key and about 15 miles southeast of Black Point Marina (map here).
