Also, if you’re looking for a focused educational outing in a small group setting, the ABA’s Institute for Field Ornithology Program: Winter Sparrows of the Southwest, based in Sierra Vista, Arizona, still has a couple of spots available (Dec. 5-10; limited to 6 participants). Homer Hansen is a great instructor and has been teaching this IFO program for several years now.

Finally, the ABA Birding Rally in Plymouth, Massachusetts is right around the corner (Jan. 31-Feb. 3rd, 2014). This is a relatively small rally (maximum of ~45 participants) that will offer great winter birding around Cape Cod and the coast, with educational evening lectures too. We concluded the ABA Rally in San Diego, CA in mid-October. If you’re curious about that please check out the slideshow from that wonderfully successful event, where 74 members gathered for a great time together.

We hope you’ll join your fellow ABA members for these upcoming events. A number of you have registered already and we thank you for supporting ABA’s mission to inspire people to protect and enjoy wild birds. Together we’ll continue to build a stronger birding community.
