As birders we certainly see this theme played out again and again, even in our back yards.  Our feeders attract birds, which in turn attract bird predators.  I don’t mind the interplay of predator and prey, though I’ll admit lately when I see a Cooper’s or Sharp-shinned Hawk in my yard I hope it hasn’t nabbed a special visitor I’ve had since late November (an Ovenbird.)  Fortunately for the out-of-place-and-season warbler, this adult Sharp-shinned Hawk that preyed in my yard last weekend targeted a European Starling.  Spoiler alert:  It doesn’t end well for the starling…
